Tshwane CFO Gareth Mnisi given time to attend to matter after SARS search

City of Tshwane Chief Financial Officer Gareth Mnisi has been given time to attend to a matter following a search by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) at his office.

The municipality confirmed on Thursday that the search took place on Wednesday, October 28, after the Acting City Manager received a request from SARS to access Mnisi’s office.

In a statement, the city said the Acting City Manager granted the request in Mnisi’s presence.

The search has since been concluded, and the CFO has been afforded time to attend to the matter.

“The matter remains with the SARS search and seizure unit,” the city said in a statement.

The municipality said it respected the ongoing investigation and would cooperate with the relevant authorities.

It added that it would refrain from commenting on the substance of the matter while the investigation was underway to preserve the integrity of the process.
