Tshwane CFO Gareth Mnisi placed on precautionary suspension
The City of Tshwane has suspended its Chief Financial Officer pending an investigation linked to testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
The Executive Mayor of Tshwane Nasiphi Moya, has confirmed the precautionary suspension of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Gareth Mnisi following a council resolution taken on 15 April 2026.
Mnisi implicated in Fannie Nkosi testimony at Madlanga Commission, he is accused of colluding with officials over tender awards.
Moya said the council stated that the suspension is a precautionary measure aimed at protecting the integrity of the ongoing investigation and safeguarding municipal interests. It stressed that the move does not amount to a finding of misconduct.
Mnisi is expected to appear before the commission on Friday, 17 April 2026, where his testimony may further inform the City’s investigation.
Moya said the city will continue monitoring developments from the commission and has committed to taking appropriate action against any individuals implicated in wrongdoing, in line with legal processes.
Nthabiseng Mokete has been appointed as acting CFO.
