Three suspects arrested in Dawn Park murder of ninth woman

Three suspects, a man and two women have been arrested in connection with the murder of Jabulile Ntimba in Dawn Park, Boksburg, in a breakthrough welcomed by the Gauteng government.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) says members of the Gauteng Murder and Robbery Unit arrested the trio over the weekend following intensive investigations into Ntimba’s murder.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Ntimba is the ninth woman whose murder is currently under investigation in Gauteng, following the discovery of several women’s bodies across Ekurhuleni.

Acting National Commissioner of SAPS Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane said all nine murder cases remain a priority for investigators.

“We remain committed to ensuring that these investigations are pursued with the urgency and determination they require,” Dimpane said.

“Our investigators are following all available leads and are working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.”

The SAPS said further details about the case would be addressed in court.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi welcomed the arrests, commending the investigating team for making progress in the case.

He also extended condolences to Ntimba’s family and loved ones, saying the provincial government remained committed to ensuring victims of violent crime receive justice.

The Gauteng government also welcomed continued law-enforcement operations under Operation Shanela and Lockdown, particularly in Kempton Park and other parts of Ekurhuleni.

The operations include targeted interventions such as roadblocks, stop-and-searches, compliance inspections and the arrest of wanted suspects.
