Red Ink productions responds to allegations made during Showmax series filming
Production company Red Ink Productions says it takes allegations of abuse and harassment seriously after actress Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku accused actor Bonko Khoza of violating her during the filming of the Showmax mini-series Red Ink in 2023.
Production company Red Ink Productions has issued a public statement addressing allegations and speculation circulating on social media regarding incidents that allegedly took place during the filming of the Showmax mini-series Red Ink in 2023.
The statement follows allegations made by actress Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku against actor Bonko Khoza, accusing him of violating her during production.
“I am never going back to acting. I will never put myself in a position where I am told my body is not mine,” Nokwe-Mseleku wrote on social media.
Khoza has denied the allegations.
Nokwe-Mseleku said she has opened a criminal case and reported the matter to the production’s executive producer, alleging that no meaningful action was taken following her complaint.
In its statement, Red Ink Productions said it takes all allegations of abuse and harassment seriously and stressed the importance of allowing a fair and lawful process for everyone involved.
According to the company, concerns raised by Nokwe-Mseleku were immediately addressed through consultations and an internal investigation involving producers, directors and key personnel on set.
The production company said the investigation concluded without sufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations.
Red Ink Productions further stated that the disputed scene was part of a violent serial killer storyline and not a sex scene. The company said both actors were fully clothed, no simulated sex was involved, and a safety officer was present during rehearsals and filming.
The statement also noted that cast members had been informed beforehand about the nature of the scene and were advised that filming could be stopped at any point should anyone feel uncomfortable.
Following the allegations, filming was reportedly suspended for the remainder of the day while meetings and consultations were held to investigate the matter further.
The company added that emotional support and legal consultation services were made available during the process.
Red Ink Productions concluded its statement by acknowledging the seriousness of the allegations and the impact the matter has had on both parties involved.
