President Cyril Ramaphosa has congratulated Bafana Bafana after their historic 1-0 victory over South Korea in Monterrey, a result that secured South Africa's first-ever place in the knockout stages of a FIFA World Cup.

The President commended coach Hugo Broos and goal scorer Thapelo Maseko for leading the national team to a landmark achievement, with South Africa now advancing to the Round of 32 where they will face tournament hosts Canada.
Ramaphosa said the team had demonstrated exceptional discipline in defence and precision in attack throughout the match, delivering a performance that inspired pride and hope across the country.
“Congratulations to Bafana Bafana on beating Korea 1-0 in Monterrey to make it to the knockout stages of a FIFA World Cup for the first time,” said Ramaphosa.
He added that the team's success reflected the spirit of unity that has rallied South Africans behind the national side.
“We remain united and hopeful under our banner that declares ‘One Nation. One Dream. One Goal,’” the President said.
The victory sparked celebrations across the country, with South Africans hailing the team's courage, determination and belief on football's biggest stage.
