Ramaphosa grants final extension for Madlanga Commission report

President Cyril Ramaphosa has granted the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry a final extension to complete and submit its report.

The deadline has been moved to Monday, 25 January 2027, according to a statement issued by the Presidency on Saturday.

The commission is investigating criminality, political interference and corruption in South Africa's criminal justice system.

The Presidency said the additional time would allow the commission to process further evidence, including testimony from experts who have made recommendations related to its terms of reference.

Ramaphosa also expressed his appreciation for the work carried out by the commission and for the manner in which law enforcement agencies have been following up on evidence and testimony emerging from the commission's hearings.

The latest extension gives the commission additional time to consider the evidence before submitting its final report.

The Presidency described the extension as the final extension of the deadline.

The Madlanga Commission has been examining allegations and evidence relating to criminality, political interference and corruption within the criminal justice system.
