Police have seized drugs with an estimated street value of more than R9.7 million during an intelligence-driven operation in Rowallan Park, Gqeberha. A 38-year-old suspect was arrested after officers allegedly discovered suspected mandrax, cocaine and tik inside a vehicle.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has seized drugs worth more than R9.7 million and arrested a 38-year-old suspect during an operation targeting organised crime in Gqeberha.
The operation was conducted on Saturday, 24 October, by officers involved in the National Organised Crime Intervention under Operation Ukubuza.
Police executed a search warrant at an identified property in Rowallan Park following intelligence-led information.
In a statement on Sunday, SAPS said officers found the suspect inside a vehicle parked in the garage before searching the vehicle and discovering various substances suspected to be mandrax, cocaine and tik.
Drug-packaging materials and cash believed to be proceeds of crime were also allegedly found during the operation.
SAPS said the suspected drugs would undergo forensic analysis to establish their exact composition.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Gqeberha Magistrates' Court on Monday, 26 October, to face drug-related charges.
