R400,000 reward offered for information on Gauteng women’s killings

A R400,000 reward has been offered for information that could lead to the arrest of wanted suspect(s) linked to the killings of women in Gauteng, as authorities intensify investigations following the discovery of eight bodies.

A high-level government delegation met at the South African Police Service (SAPS) Gauteng Provincial Head Office in Parktown on Tuesday night to discuss the ongoing investigations into the deaths of eight women whose bodies have been discovered in the province.

The meeting was led by Acting Minister of Police Firoz Cachalia, Minister of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Sindisiwe Chikunga, Minister of Social Development Dinah Pule, Deputy Minister of Police Dr Polly Boshielo, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Acting National Commissioner of SAPS Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane.

Police said that investigations into the deaths are continuing, with one suspect already arrested in connection with one of the murders committed in July.

Police are also pursuing a person of interest, while a R400,000 reward has been offered for information that may assist investigators in apprehending the wanted suspect or suspects.

Police have urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward.

The development comes as concern continues to grow over the number of women whose bodies have been discovered in and around Gauteng in recent months.

Police say investigations remain ongoing as efforts continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and identify those responsible.
