Popular Limpopo musician arrested for attempted murder

A 30-year-old Limpopo musician was arrested in Bendor, Polokwane, during a police operation linked to two counts of attempted murder. According to sources, this is Lekompo artist Shebeshxt, real name Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke.

A 30-year-old popular musician has been arrested in Limpopo during an intelligence-driven police operation conducted in the upmarket suburb of Bendor, outside Polokwane, on Wednesday morning. The suspect is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 13 November 2025, to face two counts of attempted murder.

Police spokespersons confirmed that the arrest was carried out around 09:30 through a joint operation by the Provincial Investigation Unit and the Provincial Tracking Team. The operation followed the issuing of a warrant of arrest related to two counts of attempted murder registered at Westernburg Police Station.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 19 October 2025, along Witklip Street in Ladanna, near Polokwane. It is alleged that the musician was involved in a confrontation with another motorist and fired several shots at a vehicle, injuring a 34-year-old man who was later rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The case was initially handled by Westernburg SAPS before being transferred to the Provincial Investigation Unit for further inquiry. Detectives secured a warrant of arrest on Tuesday, leading to the suspect’s capture the following morning.

During the operation, police also seized several vehicles belonging to the musician for forensic analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the investigation teams for their swift work. “We are taking this matter very seriously, and a dedicated team was appointed to ensure that no stone is left unturned. The South African Police Service reiterates that no one is above the law, regardless of their social standing,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
