Orlando Pirates confirm agreement to transfer Relebohile Mofokeng to Belgian club
Orlando Pirates have confirmed reaching an agreement with Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the transfer of Relebohile Mofokeng, although the deal still depends on a medical and personal terms.
Orlando Pirates have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Belgian Pro League outfit Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the transfer of star midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng.
In a statement on Wednesday, Buccaneers said the clubs have finalised the transfer fee and deal structure, but the move will only be completed once Mofokeng passes a medical examination and agrees to personal terms with the Belgian club.
Pirates also revealed that the two clubs had reached an agreement in principle before the start of the FIFA World Cup but deliberately chose not to make the transfer public.
The club said that the decision was taken jointly with Union Saint-Gilloise to allow Mofokeng to focus entirely on representing Bafana Bafana at the tournament without the distraction of transfer speculation.
The club added that delaying the announcement also ensured South Africa's historic World Cup campaign remained the centre of attention.
Orlando Pirates said no further comment will be made until the transfer process between Mofokeng and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise has been fully concluded.
