Honeydew police seize suspected cocaine worth R300 million in Northriding operation
An intelligence-driven police operation in Northriding has led to the seizure of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of R300 million and the confiscation of a luxury SUV allegedly linked to criminal activity.
Honeydew police have dealt a major blow to the illicit drug trade after seizing suspected cocaine valued at approximately R300 million during an intelligence-driven operation in Northriding, Johannesburg.
The operation was conducted on Saturday, 12 September 2026, at around 8.30pm after members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Honeydew acted on information relating to suspected drug-related activities at a plot in the area.
Police swiftly operationalised the intelligence, leading to the recovery of a large quantity of suspected cocaine.
During the operation, officers also seized a black Toyota Land Cruiser SUV that was allegedly displaying false registration plates and had an altered Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
No arrests have been made at this stage as investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the seizure and identify those responsible.
Police said intelligence-driven operations aimed at disrupting the illicit drug trade and combating serious crime will continue, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies and communities.
Members of the public are encouraged to report suspected criminal activities.
