A 49-year-old former North West ANC regional treasurer has been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport for failing to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

In a statement on Friday morning, the South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said the man was arrested by the Commissions Recommendations Task Team (CRTT) on Thursday evening, 15 October, moments before he was due to board an international flight.

He is expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 16 October.
