Police intercepted the suspects at the airport as they allegedly attempted to smuggle narcotics hidden on their bodies en route to China.
Five women have been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport after police uncovered drugs valued at more than R5 million concealed on their bodies.
Police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk said, initial reports indicate that the suspects were travelling to China via Dubai.
Authorities conducted a search which led to the discovery of narcotics hidden in the women’s shoes, underwear, and private areas.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, facing charges related to drug trafficking.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
