Final push for SASSA gold card holders to switch before 31 August deadline

Postbank has issued a final appeal to social grant beneficiaries who are still using SASSA Gold Cards to switch to Postbank Black Cards before the 31 August deadline.

The bank warns that SASSA Gold Cards are being phased out and will stop working, meaning beneficiaries who fail to migrate in time could face disruptions when accessing their grant payments.

Postbank is urging recipients not to wait until the final days of August or payment dates to replace their cards, as queues at card replacement sites are already increasing and are expected to grow significantly closer to the deadline.

Postbank Chief Commercial Officer Thamsanqa Cele says demand at replacement centres has steadily risen, with much longer waiting times anticipated during the final month of the migration process. He encouraged beneficiaries to replace their cards as soon as possible to avoid delays and ensure uninterrupted access to their grants.

Beneficiaries can collect their Postbank Black Cards free of charge at selected Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar stores. Card replacement sites operate from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00, and beneficiaries can dial 120355# to find their nearest collection point. A valid South African ID or temporary ID is required.

Postbank has also advised grant recipients not to visit SASSA offices for card-related enquiries. Instead, they should seek assistance at Postbank service points or through the bank's customer service centre, where officials can help with payment issues, PIN enquiries, lost or stolen cards, and declined transactions.
