Economic Freedom Fighters’s Nkululeko Dunga has been appointed Gauteng Finance MEC following a cabinet reshuffle by Panyaza Lesufi aimed at improving stability in the province.
Panyaza Lesufi reshuffled his cabinet on Wednesday, appointing Economic Freedom Fighters’s Nkululeko Dunga as Gauteng MEC for Finance.
Nkululeko Dunga replaces African National Congress’s Lebogang Maile, who moves to head the Education portfolio. Meanwhile, Matome Chiloane has been removed, with Maile taking over the position.
In a media briefing delivered on Wednesday, Lesufi said the reshuffle was approved by African National Congress national structures, adding that the changes are expected to bring greater stability to the province.
Julius Malema congratulated Nkululeko Dunga, saying his appointment reflects “patience and perseverance,” and urging him to deliver a clean audit and ensure financial stability in Gauteng.

· Education, Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation: Lebogang Maile (ANC) – replacing axed MEC Matome Chiloane
· Health and Wellness: Faith Mazibuko (ANC)
· Roads and Transport: Kedibone Diale-Tlabela (ANC)
· Human Settlements: Tasneem Motara (ANC)
· Social Development: Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko (ANC)
· Economic Development, Agriculture and Rural Development: Vuyiswa Ramokgopa (Rise Mzansi)
· e-Government: Bonginkosi Dhlamini (IFP)
· Environment and Waste Management: Ewan Botha (Patriotic Alliance)
The new executive is expected to be sworn in shortly.
