The ANC Greater Tshwane Region has cancelled its 12th Regional Conference after the ANC Gauteng Provincial Task Team resolved that it should not proceed on the initial dates. The region has been given a new window of 5 to 14 December 2025 and will announce the final date once confirmed.
The ANC Greater Tshwane Region has announced the cancellation of its 12th Regional Conference, which had been scheduled for 30 November to 2 December 2025. The decision was taken after the ANC Gauteng Provincial Task Team met on Thursday and resolved that the conference should not proceed on the original dates.
Regional coordinator George Matjila confirmed the postponement, saying the structure had been granted a new window to convene the gathering. “The ANC Greater Tshwane Region has been given an opportunity to convene its conference anytime between the 05th and 14th of December 2025,” Matjila said.
The regional conference is expected to elect new leadership and consider organisational reports that will shape the direction of the party in Tshwane. The ANC Greater Tshwane Region said it will communicate the final date once internal processes are completed. “We will issue an update on the final date of conference in due course,” Matjila added.
The postponement means the current leadership in the region will remain in place until the conference is held.
One would remember that the prior regional executive committee (REC) was disbanded in June 2025, along with other regional RECs in the province. The result is that Tshwane is now being run by a regional task team (RTT), rather than a full elected REC; meaning formal leadership is currently interim pending a new conference.
The ANC Greater Tshwane Region urged members to await further communication as preparations continue.
