An alleged serial rapist from Eersterust, Helder Isidro, has abandoned his bail application in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court, where he faces a charge of rape connected to the assault of a 27-year-old woman.
Isidro, 36, is accused of luring the woman through a Facebook hookup page in January 2024. The pair reportedly continued chatting on WhatsApp and arranged to meet in Mamelodi.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Isidro allegedly ordered an e-hailing ride for the woman, which dropped her at a petrol station opposite Denlyn Mall.
NPA’s Gauteng spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana said when she arrived, he allegedly asked her to walk with him to his residence.
“While walking through a veld, Isidro allegedly grabbed the complainant, undressed her, and raped her while threatening her with a knife. After the assault, he allegedly took her cellphone and money, handed her R20, and told her to take a taxi home,” she said
Mahanjana said the woman only reported the matter on 12 August 2025, after recognising Isidro from images circulating on social media.
Police arrested him on 13 November 2025. At the time, he was already in custody for an unrelated matter.
The case has been postponed to 14 January 2026 for the joining of charges.
