ActionSA unveils former BOSA MPL Ayanda Allie as Gauteng election campaign ambassador

ActionSA has announced former Build One South Africa (BOSA) Gauteng Member of the Provincial Legislature Ayanda Allie as its 2026 Election Campaign Ambassador for Gauteng municipalities, describing the appointment as a major boost to the party's preparations for next year's local government elections.

The announcement comes just days after Allie's membership of BOSA was terminated following an internal disciplinary process.

ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba said the appointment signalled the beginning of a new chapter in the party's election campaign.

"The road to the 2026 Local Government Elections has entered a new phase. Today, we proudly welcome Ayanda Allie as our 2026 Election Campaign Ambassador for Issue Driving in Gauteng. This high-profile addition strengthens our election campaign as we intensify our ground operation, elevate the issues that matter most to residents, and build unstoppable momentum towards victory," Mashaba said.

ActionSA believes Allie's experience in the Gauteng Legislature will strengthen its campaigning strategy as the party seeks to increase support across municipalities in the province.

Speaking after the announcement, Allie dismissed suggestions that her move to ActionSA was a rushed decision following her departure from BOSA.

"There were conversations with a couple of other organisations, but one didn't feel at home, as one feels now with ActionSA. It wasn't a case of waking up in the morning and reacting, 'I've been expelled. Where to now? Let's rush.' It has been a long time in the making," she said.

Allie revealed that discussions with Mashaba and ActionSA leadership had been ongoing for more than a year.

"I'd say about a year and a year and a half since I've met with the president. After I've associated with the various members of the legislature, one thought, this actually makes sense," she said.

Her appointment comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2026 Local Government Elections, with ActionSA positioning itself to challenge for greater support in Gauteng's municipalities through a campaign focused on service delivery and local governance issues.
