57-year-old woman arrested after R1.5m drug haul found in Khayelitsha
A 57-year-old woman has been arrested after police discovered 7,777 mandrax tablets and 1.6kg of crystal meth worth an estimated R1.5 million at a Mandela Park property.
A 57-year-old woman is facing a drug dealing charge after police seized an estimated R1.5 million worth of drugs during an early-morning operation in Khayelitsha.
The woman was found at a property in Raymond Mhlaba Crescent, Mandela Park, when members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team and the Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team carried out an intelligence-driven operation at about 3.30am on Monday.
A search of the premises allegedly uncovered 7,777 mandrax tablets and 1.6kg of crystal methamphetamine.
The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court once she has been formally charged.
The arrest forms part of intensified efforts by Western Cape police to disrupt the distribution of drugs and remove illicit substances from communities.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the drugs and the alleged dealing operation.
