Tembisa Serenade to represent South Africa at international junior song contest
The trio, made up of three young singers aged between 11 and 13, will showcase South African music and culture in Uzbekistan on 20 November.
Three young South African singers from Tembisa will represent the country at the International Junior Song Contest “Our Generation” 2026 in Uzbekistan next month.
The South African BRICS Youth Association (SABYA) announced Tembisa Serenade as the country's representatives at the international competition, which will take place on 20 November.
The trio comprises Lesedi Kahla, 12, Alakhe Cita, 13, and Londele Bukali, 11, who will take to the international stage to showcase their musical talent and South African culture.
Their musical journeys began with individual performances, choir participation and competitions. Their talents were recognised by teachers and music leaders before their shared passion for music brought them together.
The young singers said they were excited and grateful for the opportunity to represent South Africa.
“We feel very excited and can’t wait for the day to come. We never expected this opportunity and are truly grateful for it,” the trio said.
As they prepare for the competition, Tembisa Serenade hopes to inspire other young people to pursue their dreams while showcasing the country's cultural diversity and musical talent.
SABYA said it was committed to creating opportunities for young South Africans to participate in international platforms, develop their abilities and share the country's culture with the world.
The association added that the International Junior Song Contest offers young artists an opportunity to build confidence, connect with people from different cultures and represent their countries on an international stage.
Tembisa Serenade will travel to Uzbekistan on 20 November, carrying the hopes of showcasing South African talent to an international audience.
Three voices. One dream. One journey.
