Sundowns end Pirates’ MTN8 dominance with 2-0 final victory
Mamelodi Sundowns have ended Orlando Pirates’ four-year winning run in the MTN8 after securing a 2-0 victory in the final at a sold-out Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening.
Mamelodi Sundowns have been crowned MTN8 champions after defeating Orlando Pirates 2-0 in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.
The victory ends Pirates’ dominance in the competition after the Buccaneers won the 2025/26 MTN8 tournament, claiming their fourth consecutive title and fifth overall during their successful run.
Sundowns, meanwhile, denied Pirates the opportunity to extend their winning streak, securing the trophy in front of a sold-out crowd.
The result marks a significant moment in the MTN8 competition as Sundowns bring Pirates’ recent dominance to an end.
