SAPS confirms dismissal of Major General Feroz Khan
The South African Police Service has confirmed the dismissal of Major General Feroz Khan after he failed to appear before a senior officer handling his disciplinary proceedings.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed the dismissal of Major General Feroz Khan from the police service.
In a statement on Wednesday police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said Khan was deemed dismissed in terms of Regulation 9(7)(b) of the SAPS Discipline Regulations after failing to appear before the designated senior officer responsible for handling his disciplinary process.
The development comes as Khan is also expected to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on 28 September, after being ordered to testify in person.
Khan was previously scheduled to appear before the commission but failed to do so amid reports that he had been readmitted to a hospital in Johannesburg.
Mathe said the dismissal forms part of its commitment to maintaining accountability, discipline and professional conduct within its ranks.
“No member, regardless of rank or position, is above the law or the applicable disciplinary framework,” Mathe said.
The matter has previously been the subject of legal proceedings, and SAPS said it would continue to respect and abide by court decisions.
