Minister Pule to represent Mashatile at church leaders gathering in Pretoria

Social Development Minister Dina Pule will represent Deputy President Paul Mashatile at a gathering of church leaders in Pretoria on Saturday.

Pule is expected to deliver keynote remarks at the second Church Leaders Gathering in Unity (CLGU), which will bring together pastors and church leaders from different denominations, ministries and communities.

The gathering, convened by EAM Global, will take place at the Future Africa Campus at the University of Pretoria.

Mashatile has been tasked by President Cyril Ramaphosa with championing nation-building and social cohesion initiatives across various sectors of South African society, including within faith communities.

On his behalf, Pule is expected to share reflections on community development, leadership, social cohesion and cooperation between government and faith-based organisations.

The gathering aims to create a platform for church leaders to strengthen relationships across denominational and organisational boundaries while identifying opportunities for collaboration that could benefit communities.

Churches and faith communities play a significant role in supporting vulnerable people, strengthening families and promoting values that contribute to social cohesion, according to the Presidency and the Department of Social Development.

The event will also give participating leaders an opportunity to engage in prayer and dialogue and discuss practical initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation beyond the gathering.

The event will be held under the theme: “Unity, Prayer, Relationship and Kingdom Collaboration.”
