Fuel prices set to rise from Wednesday
Motorists are set to dig deeper into their pockets from 2 September 2026, with the government announcing adjustments to fuel prices based on prevailing local and international market factors.
The Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has announced adjustments to South Africa’s fuel prices, with the new prices set to take effect from 2 September 2026.
The changes are based on prevailing local and international factors affecting the prices of petroleum products.
Both grades of petrol will increase by R1.34 per litre, while the price of diesel will rise by R2.93 per litre.
The increases are expected to put further pressure on motorists and businesses, with higher fuel costs likely to affect transport and other expenses.
The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources said the latest adjustments were made after taking into account developments in international oil markets and local factors that influence the domestic fuel price.
The new fuel prices will come into effect on Wednesday, 2 September 2026.
