Former Emfuleni fleet manager arrested over alleged R16 million municipal tender fraud
A former Emfuleni Local Municipality fleet manager has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating a fraudulent R16 million vehicle fleet tender in which the municipality reportedly paid for 18 vehicles but received only seven.
A 42-year-old former Fleet Manager at the Emfuleni Local Municipality has been arrested in connection with an alleged R16 million fraud and corruption case involving a municipal vehicle fleet tender.
The arrest was carried out by the Gauteng Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) following an investigation into the awarding and implementation of a contract for the supply of 18 municipal vehicles, including UD trucks and bakkies.
In a statement on Sunday police allege that although the municipality paid the service provider approximately R16 million in full, only seven of the contracted vehicles were delivered.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates' Court on Monday, 20 July 2026, where he will face charges of fraud and corruption.
Police said investigations are continuing and indicated that additional arrests may follow as the probe progresses.
