‘I carry you inside my heart’: Slain runner Elizabeth ‘Tsontso’ Moselakgomo laid to rest

Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo is being laid to rest at Phake Village in Mpumalanga on Sunday, days after her brutal murder in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni.

The 38-year-old runner was reported missing earlier this week before her body was discovered partially clothed and bruised in Rhodesfield, Kempton Park, last weekend.

Her death has sent shockwaves through communities and sparked renewed fear and anxiety among women, particularly in Ekurhuleni.

Moselakgomo is among nine women whose bodies have reportedly been found dumped in different areas of Ekurhuleni over a period of two months. Police have not confirmed that the cases are connected.

As family, friends and loved ones gathered to bid farewell to Moselakgomo, her daughter remembered her mother not through the circumstances of her death, but through the love and memories they shared.

In an emotional tribute, her daughter described how painful it was to lose her mother and how much she misses her presence.

“I may no longer hold your hand or see your beautiful smile, but all the precious memories we made together will stay in my heart forever,” she said.

She said that whenever she feels sad and misses her mother, she will look towards the sky and imagine her watching over her.

“I wish I could hug you. I wish you could still be here with me. But I carry you inside my heart, and because of that, you will always be near.”

The daughter also promised to remember the lessons her mother taught her as she grows.

“Your beautiful daughter loves you so much. I miss you every day, but I know that I have gained a beautiful angel in you,” she said.

She ended the tribute with a message of love to the woman she affectionately called her mother.

“Love always, your beautiful princess, Kuma.”

Moselakgomo’s murder has also renewed calls for greater attention to the safety of women, as her family and loved ones mourn a life cut short.
